Work Experience (Part2)

It has been more than a week now that I am working at the Cancer Research shop and I am really enjoying it. The experience I have gained and am still gaining is very useful to me as I am learning something new every day. Due to the fact that I am working full-time I get to know a lot of people who are also working there as volunteers since most of them work part time. All of them are very friendly and kind which makes it even more enjoyable for me. Throughout the day, I have to do various activities. In the morning, we mainly focus on the looks of the shop. This means either tidying up the shop or redesigning the shop windows. Due to the fact that we have a lot of female customers, the shop windows are mainly outfitted with women's clothing/accessories. In the beginning, I worked with a staff member on the window displays but after some time, I was able to do it by myself.
I had the chance to experiment and try different displaying techniques.
The manager has focused on the looks of the shop for some time and the changes were very successful. However, the shop is not too big which makes it a bit difficult to design efficiently. We had a conversation about how the shop could be set up to achieve good results in sale as well as in space management. He asked me to think of ideas that could be put into practice. So, I drew some layouts...

Plan of shop

Ideas for new layout

layout 1

layout 2

I showed the layouts to my manager and we used layout 2 in the shop.
